Screen time was slipping away. So we built something better.
IQRA Kids began at home, watching our own children scroll.
Like many parents, I watched my children pick up a tablet and disappear into it — endless feeds, hollow games, moving targets designed by strangers to hold their attention as long as possible. The time added up. And I kept asking myself the same question: if they're going to spend this much time on a screen, why can't that time build something that matters?
That question became IQRA Kids. Not another app fighting for a child's attention, but one that uses those same minutes to teach the things I most wanted my children to know — how to read the Quran, the Arabic letters and their sounds, the everyday duas of a Muslim, the stories of the Prophets and the good character that comes with them.
From the start, I was clear about what IQRA Kids would not do. No third-party ads chasing my children. No selling of their data. No manipulative streaks or engineered urgency to keep them hooked. Messaging off by default, so no stranger could reach them. And parents fully in control — able to see the progress, set the limits, choose the focus, and delete the data whenever they wish.
IQRA Kids is part of the wider IQRA ecosystem — a growing family of Islamic education products — and it is a Nuerizo venture, powered by Nuerizo Cloud. But at its heart it's a simple thing: a father trying to turn screen time into something his children, and yours, will carry for life.
